England recovered from a disappointing loss in Centurion to clinch victory by five wickets in the final match of the three-game series on Sunday.
Edwards is now looking forward to the three Twenty20 matches against South Africa – starting this week live on Sky – and is hopeful her team-mates can take their form into the shorter form of the game ahead of the Women’s World T20 next month.
“It was a great comeback from the team after a disappointing loss in the second ODI and I’m pleased that we are back to winning ways,” Edwards told Sportswomen on Sky Sports News HQ.
“It’s an exciting group to be around at the moment, the youngsters are really wanting to show what they can do and this is a really exciting form of the game to do that.
“We are looking forward to taking this kind of form in to the T20’s and in to the T20 World Cup.”
Edwards also reserved a special word of praise for Heather Knight, England’s star player during the third ODI where she hit an unbeaten 67 to lead her side home in Johannesburg.
“Heather has been outstanding on this trip so far and we know she has taken to her role in the middle order,” she said.
“That’s one thing we need to remember, we have changed our order slightly and people have really responded to that which has been great.”[…]
